SovereignZome designs and builds off-grid structures in southern Norway. The starting point is a 3m zome — a workshop, studio, or first sovereign asset — with composting toilet, water, power, and heating infrastructure already installed. That infrastructure then supports a larger 6m dwelling when you are ready to build it. The network provides the knowledge, the skills exchange, and the community that makes it possible.

Most people do not lose sovereignty in a single moment. They surrender it gradually — one unexamined choice at a time. A career taken for status. A pension contributed to without question. A life shaped more by expectation than by intent.

Sovereignty is both an inner and outer practice. The outer work is practical — land, structure, food, water, energy less dependent on centralised systemss that generate increasing dependency. The inner work is deeper — decisions rooted in your own authentic self rather than external expectation, fear, or social pressure.

Its social expression is voluntaryism. Contribution is voluntary. The community forms through free association — not through obligation, debt, or the kind of obligations many people accept without question.

Why a zome

Efficient geometry

Maximum volume per unit of material. Built from flat modular panels — light enough to carry, simple enough to build by hand.

Height where you need it

A dome at 3m gives a ceiling of 1.5m. A 3m zome stands 3m tall. Full standing height from the smallest footprint.

Warm in winter

The spherical form loses less heat per cubic metre than any rectangular building. Geometry, not expensive insulation.

Transportable

Panels carried by one or two people. No crane. No truck access required.

Psychologically alive

Research confirms curved spaces reduce anxiety and increase creativity. The round room feeds the soul in ways a box does not.

Timbercrete

90% local materials.

The zome panels use a timbercrete technique developed on the land. Sawdust from the local timber mill combined with granite aggregate from the local earth. The bulk of the structure is sourced from within a few kilometres of where it stands.

The knowledge transfers person to person, hand to hand — alongside the build.

The land.

Southern Norway forest

Southern Norway is the location of the premier site. Within 60 minutes from the port town of Kristiansand — with ferry connections to Denmark and direct road links to mainland Europe. Close enough to reach easily. Remote enough to matter.

The people who established these sites have already put in serious infrastructure work. A sacred nature path running through the land — built by people who see themselves as custodians, not consumers. While we are early to build a fully sovereign off-grid structure here, the scope is enormous. The network is forming.

Morning

The water system runs overnight. Coffee from filtered water before the rest of the world is awake. The forest does not ask anything of you before 9am.

The garden

Food you grew yourself tastes different. Not because of the variety. Because of what it required of you to grow it.

The children

They grow up in the forest. They can build a fire, tend a garden, fix a water pipe. They inherit not just land but capability — the practical competence to navigate the world on their own terms. That is a different kind of inheritance.

Clean water. Clean air. Escape from environmental pollutants. Food you grew. Physical work that keeps you strong. The chronic low-level stress most people carry — it lifts.

Evening

The quiet that follows a day of real work is different from the quiet that follows a day in front of a screen. The fire is warm. The day was yours.

The network

The zome is the mushroom.
The network is the mycelium.

The mycorrhizal fungal network has been on Earth for over 400 million years. It predates every human institution — money, government, law, the financial system — by an almost incomprehensible margin.

It has survived every mass extinction event in Earth’s history. Each time, the dominant species above ground collapsed. The network below survived, adapted, and continued.

It was here before money. It will be here after.

The mycorrhizal fungal network is the oldest partnership on Earth. And it encodes two principles that no human institution has matched for durability.

Above ground, each mushroom is a complete, sovereign organism. It does not need the network to exist. Sovereignty comes first. A network of dependent nodes has no resilience.

Below ground, the mycelium connects nodes that chose to connect. No central authority. No coercion. Nutrients flow freely between sovereign nodes through connections formed by natural affinity. This is voluntaryism.

Sovereignty enables voluntaryism. You cannot participate fully in a voluntary network until you are sovereign. This is why SovereignZome begins with reclaiming — and builds the network from that foundation.

The things that matter most between sovereign neighbours have never had a price — and never will.

The argument

There are two steps to leave the system,
most people only know about one.

Reducing dependence on the pension system is the right instinct. But it is only the first step.

The first step is investing in assets less dependent on centralised systems — gold, silver, crypto. These get you outside the custody chain. No institution holds them for you. But their price is still set by the system. When markets fall, they fall with it.

Most people diversify assets. Few diversify dependence. Sovereign infrastructure remains valuable whether markets rise or fall — because its value comes from what it does, not what someone is willing to pay for it.

Getting outside the valuation chain is the second step. A node outside the valuation chain does not fall when the market falls. It cannot be anxious — because it has no price to be anxious about.

How much does it cost?

A great deal less than you might expect — and dramatically less than the conventional alternative. Labour is the single largest cost in modern construction. Compliance frameworks, supply chain margins, contractor overheads, and regulatory costs have made conventional building almost prohibitively expensive for ordinary people.

The SovereignZome model eliminates most of that. Local materials bypass the global supply chain entirely. Network skills replace expensive contractors. The timbercrete technique was developed here, taught here, and stays here — no licensing fees, no industrial markup, reduced administrative complexity.

Once built, a sovereign node costs almost nothing to run. No mortgage. No utility bills. No annual fees.
